The fans and the cast both want to see a second season of the space-western by Joss Whedon. The plot followed around a mixed bag of smugglers in their misadventures while aboard a spaceship, Serenity. Nathan Fillion starred as the lead, Captain Mal, and his team came to be called the Browncoats. Moreover, there were reports of the network giving Whedon a hard time about having Gina Torres and Alan Tudyk on board as the two actors were married.
Add poor advertising to that and what we have got is a disaster of a show that had a lot of potential. As far as Fox is concerned, the president of the network of the time admitted that it was an extremely thought out and difficult decision for the network. According to ScreenRant , the episodes were accidentally aired out of order. They kicked things off with the second installment, and the pilot was the last episode to debut. This was undoubtedly confusing for viewers and may have contributed to the fact that the series was canceled after only eleven of its fourteen recorded episodes had made it to air.
Characters Zoe and Wash are in a healthy marriage throughout the series, a fact that Whedon was satisfied with. Unfortunately, Fox was hoping for a little bit more drama. Firefly in the lead!
